The Intraday market is sluggish on September F&O expiry day. The Sensex is down 81.52 points or 0.3 percent at 25741.47 and the Nifty slips 18.90 points or 0.2 percent at 7827.05. About 970 shares have advanced, 661 shares declined, and 74 shares are unchanged. Lupin, NTPC, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto and HUL are top gainers while ICICI Bank, HDFC, Axis Bank and Tata Steel are major losers in the Sensex.
Lupin, Maruti, Dr Reddy's Labs, M&M and Bajaj Auto are top gainers while ONGC, Reliance, L&T, Coal India and Vedanta are major losers. Oil prices edged up on Thursday after taking a hit in the previous session in response to a mixed US stockpiles report, but analysts warned that headwinds remained in place for the under-pressure commodity.
Key benchmark indices pared losses after hitting fresh intraday low in morning trade. At 10:16 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 85.16 points or 0.33% at 25,737.83. The 50-unit CNX Nifty was down 12.90 points or 0.16% at 7,833.05. High volatility was witnessed as traders rolled over positions in the futures & options (F&O) segment from the September 2015 series to October 2015 series ahead of the expiry of the near month September 2015 contracts.

The Sensex was up 376.52 points or 1.50 percent at 25407.84, and the Nifty was up 96.85 points or 1.29 percent at 7590.20. About 1966 shares advanced, 909 shares declined, and 122 shares were unchanged.
Top gainers in the Nifty were DLF (up 4.51 percent), GAIL (up 4.45 percent), Bank of Baroda (up 3.48 percent), NMDC (up 3.37 percent) and BPCL (up 3.25 percent). Kotak Mahindra Bank was the top loser in Nifty. ONGC (down 0.71 percent), HCL Tech (down 0.69 percent), Sun Pharma (down 0.69 percent) and Infosys (down 0.64 percent) were other big losers.
Investors are focused on the long- term growth of India on back of optimism surrounding the new government and expectations of speedy reforms. In intraday market the Sensex is up 375.92 points or 1.50 percent at 25407.24, and the Nifty is up 96.85 points or 1.29 percent at 7590.20. About 2016 shares have advanced, 872 shares declined, and 111 shares are unchanged.

Today the intraday market has opened on a positive note with support from oil & gas stocks. The Sensex is up 141.06 points at 25172.38 and the Nifty is up 21.85 points at 7515.20. About 476 shares have advanced, 110 shares declined, and 15 shares are unchanged.
GAIL, ITC, HDFC, M&M and BHEL are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Infosys, HUL, Wipro and TCS. The Indian rupee opened higher by 8 paise at 60.12 per dollar versus 60.20 Monday. Euro continues to remain under pressure, trading below the 1.36 mark.
In other asset classes, Brent Crude slipped below USD 114 per barrel as data showed Iraq oil exports in June were near record highs and not impacted by the conflict. Disappointing European data also contributed to the decline.
Precious metal gold is hovering near two-month highs as geopolitical tensions supported the metal's safe-haven appeal. And euro continues to remain under pressure, trading below the 1.36 mark.

The Intraday market is seeing strong gains with support from banks, capital goods, oil & gas and auto stocks. The Sensex is up 375.57 points or 1.55 percent at 24592.91 and the Nifty is up 110.75 points or 1.53 percent at 7340.70. About 1765 shares have advanced, 974 shares declined, and 101 shares are unchanged. Bank and financial stocks are in focus with SBI, HDFC and Axis Bank gaining 3 percent each ahead of Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy review.
The RBI is likely to keep rates unchanged when it reviews its monetary policy on Tuesday, its first under the new government spearheaded by Narendra Modi. L&T, SBI, ONGC, HDFC and Axis Bank are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are HUL, Sun Pharma,Wipro, ITC and Dr Reddy's Labs.
Aurobindo Pharma shares fell more than 5 percent intraday despite strong numbers in the fourth quarter. Fall in the stock may be due to profit booking as it rallied more than 11 percent in last two weeks. Consolidated net profit of the healthcare company grew 362 percent on yearly basis to Rs 501.8 crore and net revenue jumped 48.5 percent to Rs 2,306 crore in the quarter ended March 2014.
