The Indian Stock market is completely flat while metals continue to put pressure. The Sensex is up 7.88 points at 27669.28, and the Nifty is up 6.10 points at 8366.65. About 1389 shares have advanced, 816 shares declined, and 136 shares are unchanged. Steel stocks are likely to give fairly impressive returns over a long term. One can consider adding Tata Steel, JSW Steel and SAIL in small quantities at declines.
GAIL is up 3 percent, Cipla, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel and TCS are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Hindalco, Vedanta, L&T, ONGC and BHEL. GAIL, Sun Pharma, Cipla, Bharti Airtel and Dr Reddy's Labs are top gainers in the Sensex. BHEL, Hindalco, Axis Bank, L&T and Coal India are among losers.
The Equity market, which gave up some gains after a firm start, is moving in a tight range for nearly an hour now, with the mood turning a bit cautious due to disappointing data on industrial production. Healthcare stocks continue to attract buyers. Select information technology, FMCG, consumer durables and oil stocks are also up with strong gains. Automobile, bank, capital goods, power, realty and metal stocks are a bit subdued.

In Indian Stock Equity benchmarks as well as broader markets extended losses in morning trade today, dragged by technology, auto, FMCG and HDFC group stocks. The Sensex fell 129.45 points to 28312.65 and the Nifty declined 43.20 points to 8562.80. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell 0.9 percent each. About 797 shares have advanced, 1104 shares declined, and 127 shares are unchanged on the BSE. Bids can be made for minimum 225 equity shares and in multiples of 225 equity shares thereafter.
The stock market as extended losses in the morning deals, owing to feeble US markets and as selling pressure continues in select index heavy-weights. The BSE Sensex tumbled to a fresh in intra-day low at 28,254, led by auto, realty, IT, FMCG, metal and capital goods shares. The BSE benchmark index has now slipped 168 points at 28,274.The NSE Nifty has slipped below 8,600-mark to hit a low of 8,547. The Nifty index is now down 50 point at 8,551.
Infosys topped the selling list on Sensex, down 2.6 percent followed by TCS, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero Motocorp, Coal India and Sesa Sterlite with 1-2 percent losses. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries declined 0.7 percent despite strong earnings in Q4 with the profit rising over 22 percent and gross refining margin at USD 10.1 a barrel. However, shares of Sun Pharma rebounded today with 2.6 percent upside. ICICI Bank, Dr Reddy's Labs, ONGC and Tata Steel gained 0.5-1 percent.

Indian Stock Market Tips; Today Sensex, Nifty volatile

The Indian stock market continued to be range bound. The Sensex rose 29.02 points to 28290.10 and the Nifty advanced 5.25 points to 8576.15. However, the broader markets underperformed, falling marginally. Declining shares outnumbered advancing ones by a ratio of 1449 to 866 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Tata Motors gained 1 percent. The company has a board meeting on March 25 to consider details terms of proposed rights issue which is of up to Rs 7,500 crore. The company will also consider a buyback of secured NCDs with face value of Rs 1,250 crore. Globally markets remained firm with the Nikkei and Shanghai Composite sitting at fresh highs. Brent crude hovered around USD 55 per barrel.
The share market remained volatile with the Nifty moving in a range of 8550-8600. Telecom, oil, FMCG, Pharma and select private banks gained. The Sensex rose 54.85 points to 28315.93 and the Nifty advanced 7.75 points to 8578.65. However, the broader markets underperformed benchmarks with the BSE Midcap and Small cap indices falling 0.4 percent each. About 745 shares have advanced, 1124 shares declined, and 134 shares are unchanged on the BSE.
