After a volatile day, the Indian share market ended with marginal losses. The Sensex was down 78.64 points at 26908.82 and the Nifty slipped 25.25 points at 8102.10. About 1360 shares have advanced, 1500 shares declined, and 439 shares were unchanged. HUL was up 3.5 percent while Reliance, NTPC, Maruti and ONGC were other gainers in the Sensex. Hindalco, ICICI Bank, GAIL, BHEL and ITC were among major losers.
The Indian stock market remained volatile today after a 3 percent cut in previous session. In fact, there has not been any recovery after that yesterday's carnage. Indices trimmed losses in afternoon trade after seeing a 211 points intraday fall. The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 17.72 points to 26969.74 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 4.15 points to 8123.20. About 1168 shares have advanced, 1491 shares declined, and 462 shares are unchanged on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Oil prices will continue to drop as high production meets weak demand and strong U.S. dollar pressures crude, and markets will only pick up once major manufacturing economies particularly in Asia feel the benefit of cheaper energy. Coal India struggled to produce and ship less than half of its daily target on the first day of a five-day worker strike that began on Tuesday, hampering government efforts to reform the country's coal industry and ease its power crisis.

After the carnage seen on Tuesday, the Indian share market has opened with marginal loss today. The Sensex is down 30.23 points at 26957.23 and the Nifty is down 8.70 points at 8118.65. About 355 shares have advanced, 217 shares declined, and 416 shares are unchanged. NTPC, Sesa Sterlite, TCS, SBI and Infosys are top gainers in the Sensex. Tata Motors, GAIL, L&T, BHEL and Tata Power are among the major losers.
The Sensex is up 16.67 points at 27004.13 and the Nifty is up 6.65 points at 8134.00. About 808 shares have advanced, 403 shares declined, and 430 shares are unchanged. HUL is up 2 percent, Coal India, TCS, Sesa Sterlite and Reliance are top gainers in the Sensex. BHEL is down 1.5 percent.
The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 63.51 per dollar against previous close of 63.57.
The euro slips to a nine-year low against the dollar early as investors brace for Eurozone inflation data. In commodities, Nymex crude futures held little changed near 5.5-year lows amid continued worries over a supply glut.

The Indian share market has opened with gains. The Sensex is up 92.99 points at 27980.89 and the Nifty is up 25.25 points at 8420.70. About 800 shares have advanced, 181 shares declined, and 622 shares are unchanged. L&T, Tata Power, Tata Steel, Maruti and Sesa are top gainers in the Sensex. Coal India, HDFC Bank, Dr Reddy's Labs, ONGC and GAIL are among thle laggards.
The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade. It has opened lower by 14 paise at 63.43 per dollar versus 63.29 Friday.The euro fell to its lowest since June 2010, after Draghi told the German financial newspaper that the ECB was less likely to preserve price stability than it was six months ago, suggesting it was ready to take bolder steps on monetary stimulus early this year.
Asian markets re-opened on a weak note this morning with the Nikkei losing more than a 1 percent as yen gains some strength. Japanese markets have been shut since last Wednesday for the holiday season Kospi dropped to a one-month low as losses in blue-chips weighed on the bourse.

After the Indian share market ended on a high note. The S&P BSE Sensex extended its winning streak for the sixth straight session, and closed nearly 400 points up on hopes of reforms in banking space. The government has organized a two-day retreat for public-sector banks, insurance companies and financial Institutions in Pune. Markets are hoping for some reform announcements to come through at the conclave.
In Indian stock market,the stock 30-share index closed at 27,887.90, up 380.36 points or 1.38 per cent. It touched a high of 27,937.7 and a low of 27,519.26 in trade today. The Nifty ended at 8,395.45, up 111.45 points or 1.35 per cent. It touched a high of 8,410.60 and a low of 8,288.70 in trade today.The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.86 per cent and the S&P BSE Smallcap Index gained 0.75 per cent.
The S&P Bankex surged 1.80 per cent, the S&P BSE Capital goods Index gained 1.82 per cent and the S&P BSE IT Index gained 1.43 per cent. HDFC (up 4.07 per cent), Tata Motors (up 2.83 per cent), BHEL (up 2.83 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 2.78 per cent) and Axis Bank (up 2.43 per cent) were among the major Sensex gainers.

Nifty hits 8300, Sensex up over 100 pts; BHEL, ONGC gain The Indian Stock market has opened on a positive note. The Sensex is up 104.29 points at 27611.83 and the Nifty is up 32.40 points at 8316.40. About 715 shares have advanced, 164 shares declined, and 884 shares are unchanged.

Gold inched up as higher oil prices boosted its safe-haven appeal, but the metal looked set to post its third straight weekly loss, weighed down by a strong dollar. US crude futures hit USD 55.11 a barrel before easing below USD 55 a barrel on the first trading day of 2015 in Asia, supported by last week's larger-than-expected fall in US crude stocks. Higher oil prices support gold as the metal is seen as a hedge against oil-led inflation.
