Indian shares opened steadily higher, as bulls appeared to be buying shares with renewed vigour after a day’s consolidation. The BSE Sensex was up 0.30 percent, or 74 points, to 28,237 while the NSE Nifty opened 0.17 percent, or 14 points, higher to 8,442. Sugar stocks were in focus early amid hopes the government would announce export sops.
Sector leaders Balrampur Chini, Shree Renuka and Bajaj Hindusthan were up between 1.54 percent and 3.88 percent. In individual stocks, SBI hit a 52-week high, rising 0.5 percent to Rs 2,960.Meanwhile, the market has given back all its gains and has slipped mildly into the red. As of this writing, the Sensex is down 0.1 percent to 28,136 while the Nifty is off 0.15 percent to 8,413.
The frontline market has given back a major part of its opening gains, even as, predictably, the action continues in the broader market. The BSE Sensex was up 0.08 percent, or 21 points, to 28,188 while the NSE Nifty had gained 0.04 percent, or 3 points, to 8,429. Overall, sugar and consumer durables have raised the most with 1.94 percent and 1.44 percent gains, respectively, followed by metals, autos, capital goods and chemicals, all up about 0.5 percent.

The downward intraday market trend is now firmly ensconced. The Sensex is now down 0.31 percent or 89 points to 27,957 while the Nifty is down 0.37 percent, or 31 points to 8,358. The market breadth has now worsened with a 15:35 advance-decline ratio for the Nifty 50 stocks.
The fall early is broad-based with both high-beta sectors (banks, metals, capital goods) as well as defensives (IT and pharma) off 0.1 to 0.3 percent. Oil & gas, led by ONGC and Reliance, is holding up.BSE Sensex is down 48.5 points (0.17 percent) to 27,998 while the NSE Nifty is off 17 points (0.21 percent) to 8,372.
Mid- and small-caps are, however, holding up, with a gain of 0.34 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively. On a sectoral basis, most sectors barring telecom and auto are in the red. Private Banks is witnessing selling: the HDFC twins have lost 1.7 percent each while ICICI is down 0.1 percent.

The intraday market is succumbing to profit booking pressures. The Sensex is down 37.14 points at 27971.76 and the Nifty is down 19.60 points at 8363.70. About 940 shares have advanced, 1028 shares declined, and 72 shares are unchanged.
BHEL, Sun Pharma, Cipla, L&T and Tata Steel are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Dr Reddy's Labs, HDFC twins, TCS and Tata Motors. Asian shares slipped slightly as investors looked to a run of Chinese economic indicators due later in the day, while Wall Street shares ended a five-day winning streak as falling oil prices hurt energy stocks.
There is a sudden dip in market as the Sensex is down 54.99 points at 27953.91 and the Nifty is down 22.30 points at 8361. About 961 shares have advanced, 946 shares declined, and 64 shares are unchanged. Shares of National Aluminum Company rose 10 percent intraday after it announced strong September quarter results. The state-run aluminum maker reported 91 percent jump in net profit to Rs 341.52 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2014-15, on higher income.

Equity benchmarks continued to trade higher with marginal gains supported by banking and financial stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 84.08 points to 27958.81 and the Nifty climbed 24.50 points to 8368.75. The broader markets outperformed benchmarks with the BSE Midcap and Small cap indices rising 0.66 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.
Advancing shares outnumbered declining ones by a ratio of 1327 to 644 on the BSE. Tata Steel, Gail India, Mahindra and Mahindra, Axis Bank, HDFC, IDFC, Ultra Tech Cement, Ambuja Cements and Jindal Steel topped the buying list, up 1-3 percent. However, BHEL, Coal India, Dr Reddy's Labs, Infosys, Bharti Airtel and NMDC are under pressure, down 0.7-1.7 percent.
In the midcap space, Amtek Auto climbed 14 percent after its subsidiary Amtek Global Technologies secured a long-term loan of 235 million euro (over Rs 1,800 crore) from global investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), to replace its existing short-term loan. HCC jumped 10 percent after Sebi approved Lavasa's Rs 750 crore IPO prospectuses.
