The Intraday market has opened on a flat note but the Nifty
opened below 6700. The Nifty is down at 6694.25. About 119 shares have
advanced, 40 shares declined, and 4 shares are unchanged. The Indian rupee
gained in the early trade on Monday. It opened higher by 18 paise at 59.90 per
dollar versus 60.08 Friday. The dollar hold steady as US data showed solid jobs
gains for a second straight month.
Indian
indices edged lower as investors turned cautious ahead of beginning of Lok
Sabha elections from 7th Apr 2014. The broader markets are
outperformed the indices- BSE Mid-cap and Small-cap were up by nearly 1% each.
Sensex closed down by 149 pts to 22359 and Nifty declined by 41 pts to 6694.
European markets traded up.
Asian equity markets kicked off the week lower, after a
weaker-than-expected US non-farm payrolls report triggered heavy losses in Wall
Street shares at the end of last week. On Friday, the Dow lost 1 percent, the
S&P 500 fell 1.25 percent and the NASDAQ tumbled 2.6 percent, with the
latter two indices posting their worst session in two months, following a
disappointing US jobs report.
