The Indian Stock market has started the week with a bang. The Sensex is up 174.17 points or 0.6 percent at 28296.06 and the Nifty is up 36.25 points or 0.4 percent at 8550.05. About 522 shares have advanced, 133 shares declined, and 230 shares are unchanged. Wipro gains 6 percent while Hindalco, HDFC Bank, Sesa Sterlite and ONGC. Dr Reddy's Labs and M&M are among losers in the BSE. The Indian rupee continued its upward momentum on Monday as it opened higher by 23 paise at 61.64 per dollar versus 61.87 Friday.
Indian share markets are expected to trade in a range on Monday tracking muted trend seen in other Asian markets. In the US stocks rallied on Friday to close higher for a first session in six, as energy led gains with US crude rising and as investors considered a mixed bag of economic reports. In Europe, equities closed mostly higher, but Swiss stocks weighed on wider benchmarks.
In the morning Asian markets showed gains with Nikkei up over a percent following a positive handover from Wall Street on Friday. From the commodity space, oil prices jumped more than 5 percent on Friday, boosted by the response to a bullish report on US consumer sentiment. Nymex trades around USD 48. While Brent crude is back above USD 50 per barrel. Gold continues to gain, as investors sought safety from volatility in wider markets.

After the stellar rally on Thursday, the Indian Stock market has opened flat today. The Sensex is down 18.94 points at 28056.61 and the Nifty is up 9.90 points at 8504.05. About 287 shares have advanced, 182 shares declined, and 235 shares are unchanged. HDFC Bank, HUL, Axis Bank, Sesa and Cipla are top gainers in the Sensex while GAIL, Maruti, Tata Steel, BHEL and HDFC are losers.
TCS is down 2 percent post its December quarter results. The Indian rupee opened flat at 62.08 per dollar against previous close of 62.06. The euro hovered above 11-year low as investors bet the Swiss move to abandon its currency cap meant it was almost certain the European Central Bank would launch large-scale bond buying next week.
Globally, US markets fell for the fifth day with the S&P 500 closing below 2,000 for the first time in a month. Asian markets too are trading in the red tracking Wall Street losses with the Japanese Nikkei down almost 2 percent. In other asset classes, Nymex Crude reversed early gains to drop over 4 percent to USD 46 dollars per barrel.Gold prices, however, jumped to a four-month high.

Today In Indian Share Market the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex was currently up 1.38 points or 0.01% at 27,427.11. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was strong. Yes Bank rose ahead of its Q3 results today, 14 January 2015. Tata Motors gained after reporting good global wholesales in December 2014.The S&P BSE Sensex started on a cautious note on Wednesday following muted trend seen in other Asian markets. The index was trading in a narrow range, weighed down by losses in ITC, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Sesa Sterlite.
Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also turned choppy after a positive start, weighed down by losses in banks, metal and FMCG stocks. In Intraday the 30-share index was at 27419, down 6 points or 0.02 per cent. It touched a high of 27460.76 and a low of 27351.27 in trade today . The Nifty was at 8299 up 2 points or 0.02 per cent. It touched a high of 8314.55 and a low of 8283.25 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.32 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index edged higher by 0.37 per cent. BHEL (up 1.2 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.1 per cent), HUL (up 1.1 per cent), Wipro (up 1.03 per cent) and Infosys (up 0.74 per cent) were among the major Sensex gainers. ITC (down 2.8 per cent), Sesa Sterlite (down 2.3 per cent), Hindalco (down 1.3 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 0.94 per cent) and Tata Steel (down 0.66 per cent) were the major index losers.

The Indian Share market has opened flat on Monday. The Sensex is up 13.73 points at 27472.11 and the Nifty is up 6.85 points at 8291.35. About 394 shares have advanced, 130 shares declined, and 313 shares are unchanged. NTPC, Infosys, M&M, Tata Power and Hindalco are top gainers in the Sensex. The Indian rupee gained in the opening trade. It has rose by 17 paise at 62.15 per dollar against 62.32 Friday.
The S&P BSE Sensex plunged as much as 125 points in trade on Monday, led by losses in HDFC, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, RIL and ONGC. Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also came under bit of pressure and slipped below its crucial psychological support level of 8250, weighed down by losses in autos, banks, oil & gas, metal and realty stocks.
In commodities, oil prices remain under pressure having hit their lowest since April 2009. Brent crude currently trades below USD 50 per barrel while Nymex slips to USD 47 per barrel. From precious metals space, gold inches higher to USD 1220 an ounce as dollar declines and as uncertainty in Greece boosted demand for assets seen as safe.

The Indian stock market has opened with smart gains on Friday. The Sensex is up 195.90 points or 0.7 percent at 27470.61 and the Nifty is up 50.85 points or 0.6 percent at 8285.45. The 50-share index briefly touched 8300.About 534 shares have advanced, 72 shares declined, and 325 shares are unchanged. Tata Steel, Tata Motors, ONGC, Tata Power and HDFC Bank are top gainers in the Sensex.
The Indian rupee gained in the early trade. It has opened higher by 19 paise at 62.48 per dollar compared to previous day's closing value. On Thursday, the rupee ended at nearly 4-week closing high of 62.67 per dollar. The euro extends losses to trade near a nine-year low, as investors bet the European Central Bank was getting closer to adopting quantitative easing to ward off deflation.
In commodities, crude prices held steady led by better-than-expected US jobs data. Nymex crude was above USD 49 while Brent crude was trading above USD 51 per barrel. From precious metals space, gold was flat as expectations that the Federal Reserve would exercise patience in raising interest rates left US bond yields flat.
